As part of the KOKKKA-project we carry out focus group discussions about sustainable development and shopping centers. We will invite different stakeholders of the shopping center industry to the discussions: public sector actors, investors, developers, consultants, architects, managers and tenants. Discussions will be held in four different countries: Finland, Sweden, UK and USA. In Finland a total of seven group discus-sions were held between August and September. All conversations were recorded and transcribed. The data will be analyzed during the winter 2010.
The purpose of the focus group discussions is to find out the views of the stakeholders in the shopping center industry on sustainable development and on promoting sustainability. Another goal is to compare the views of the stakeholders in the selected countries. During the focus group discussions the stakeholders will also do a preference exercise with cards. The exercise aims to find out the most important aspects of shopping centers from the point-of-view of different stakeholders. The exercise will be analyzed using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).
